Programme of Events

Indoor events are generally free to BIAS members.

Events are at Keynsham in the Masonic Hall unless otherwise stated. Visitors are very welcome and are invited to make a donation of £4. Outdoor events are individually priced.

There is level disabled access to the room we use. And free car parking.

Covid-19 is still a threat. Please check before attending that you are Covid free.

By Car: From Bristol or Bath, take the Keynsham exit from the Broadmead roundabout on the Keynsham bypass. The Masonic Hall is only a few yards from the roundabout on the right.
By Bus: The X39 and A4 services link Keynsham to Bath and Bristol.
By Rail: It is quite a long walk, but there are direct regular services from Bristol Parkway, Bristol Temple Meads and Bath.

Talk: The Avonmouth Smelting Works railway system

BIAS members have been invited to join the Avon Valley Railway for this talk by Local railwayman and author Paul Stanford who will present a talk on the railway system of the Avonmouth Smelting Works, where the railway’s Avonside locomotive “Edwin Hulse” spent its working career. Discover the stories behind the railways, the industry, and the locomotive that played its part in Britain’s industrial past.

The talk will be held in the dining coach at Bitton station, where we will the bar will be open for a social evening in a unique railway setting. The bar will open at 6.30pm with Paul’s talk at 7.30pm. All BIAS members, friends, and enthusiasts welcome with profits from the event going to Avon Valley Railway’s “Fit for the Future” appeal.”
